Curriculum and Syllabus Consulting
I advise higher education institutions and advanced music programmes on curriculum and syllabus development in contemporary music, with particular emphasis on musical judgement, aural fluency, ensemble pedagogy, curriculum coherence, and assessment validity. My work includes jazz-informed and improvisatory learning, contemporary theory, practice-led pedagogy, and curriculum structures that connect musicianship with higher education standards.
This work draws on doctoral training in music education, alongside experience designing and delivering undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across LASALLE College of the Arts, the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, and Singapore Raffles Music College. I also develop internal syllabi for principal study, ensemble learning, creative workshopping, professional practice, and practice-led musicianship.
Current curriculum work includes aural fluency, rhythm-section pedagogy, genre-inclusive theory, brush technique, ensemble learning, professional practice, and practice-led research design. My approach is research-informed, musically grounded, and designed for application across higher education, conservatoire-adjacent, and advanced professional training contexts.
I support institutions and departments that are developing, reviewing, or restructuring individual modules, assessment frameworks, programme strands, or broader curriculum architectures.
