Curriculum & Syllabus Consulting
I provide curriculum and syllabus consulting services for institutions seeking to develop or refine their music education programmes, with a focus on contemporary and applied learning environments. These include rhythm, improvisation, ensemble, and jazz-based content, though I’ve also worked across broader areas such as theory, pedagogy, and assessment design.
My academic background (Doctor of Music Education, Fellow in Musicology of the Australian Society of Musicology and Composition — where I also serve as a diploma examiner — and Fellowship with Honours in Composition from the Victoria College of Music) is complemented by real-world experience writing syllabi for Hitmaker Global Academy and Singapore Raffles Music College, where I’ve taught and developed both undergraduate and postgraduate modules. I also write and implement my own internal syllabi for principal study, creative workshopping, and ensemble coaching. My practice draws from jazz, global rhythm systems, and practical pedagogy grounded in lived musicianship.
I’m currently developing a brush-focused syllabus for advanced percussion learners, which forms the basis of my FRSM (Music Education) proposal. While still pending approval, the project reflects my broader approach to curriculum development: research-informed, musically grounded, and designed for real application. I'm also pursuing a PhD in Music, Curriculum Innovation and Pedagogic Design, highlighting my commitment to pedagogical excellence.
If your school, college, or programme is in the process of launching, updating, or reshaping a music curriculum — whether as a one-off module or a full academic strand — I’d be glad to contribute.
