Score Preparation and Engraving

Dr Eugene Seow provides selective score preparation, notation, and engraving support for projects that require clarity, accuracy, and professional-standard materials. His engraving practice is informed by jazz and contemporary notation, rhythm-section literacy, educational ensemble design, and practice-led musicianship.

He works primarily with composers, educators, institutions, and artist-led projects seeking music that is cleanly notated, pedagogically sound, and rehearsal-efficient. His approach emphasises readability, ensemble communication, role clarity, rhythmic precision, and practical performance considerations.

Typical scoring and preparation projects include:

Jazz and contemporary ensemble scores with detailed rhythm-section notation

Hybrid or cross-genre instrumentations requiring bespoke layout, cueing, or interpretive markings

Educational and developmental ensemble materials that support learning outcomes through clear notation

Artist and studio scoring needs, including conductor scores, rhythm charts, lead sheets, and extracted parts

Practice-led or curriculum-linked projects requiring notation that supports rehearsal, assessment, documentation, or teaching

All engraving is completed in Dorico with publication-ready formatting and layout. Materials can be prepared for rehearsal, performance, submission, teaching, assessment, or archival use, depending on the needs of the project.

Transcription support is available for selected projects, including rhythm charts, lead sheets, ensemble reductions, and pedagogical materials that require rhythmic precision, structural clarity, or rehearsal-ready formatting.

Eugene undertakes notation and engraving work on a selective basis for projects aligned with his artistic, pedagogical, or research interests.
