Biography

Dr Eugene Seow, DME (High Distinction), MMus, BMus (Summa Cum Laude), F.Musicol.ASMC, FRSA, FHEA (pending), FVCM(Hons), F.Perf.ASMC, F.Dip.SCSM, LTCL (Dist.), DipABRSM, DipRSL, CIPP (Dist.) is a Singapore-based music educator, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist with a global academic and performance profile.

He holds a Doctor of Music Education (Liberty University), a Master of Music in Jazz Studies (Queens College, CUNY), and a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Composition and Professional Music (Berklee). His fellowships include the Royal Society of Arts, Higher Education Academy (pending), Royal Society for Public Health, Victoria College of Music (Hons), Australian Society of Musicology and Composition (Performance), and St Cecilia School of Music (Teaching).

A credentialed performer on drum set, piano, electric bass, and orchestral percussion, Dr Seow has appeared at venues such as Lincoln Center, the Esplanade, Bar Next Door (NYC), Wally’s Jazz Café (Boston), and international arts and military festivals. His compositions have been featured by the Berklee Concert Jazz Orchestra, and he has collaborated with artists including Terence Blanchard, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Dr Lonnie Smith, and Samuel Torres.

As an educator, Dr Seow teaches advanced modules in music theory, improvisation, global rhythm, pedagogy, and creative practice, alongside thesis supervision. His doctoral research explores integrating African polyrhythm, Indian tala, Arabic maqam, and Japanese gagaku into aural training.

He currently lectures at Singapore Raffles Music College, Nanyang Technological University, and the National University of Singapore, and serves as Principal Study Tutor at elite international schools including Brighton College Singapore, NLCS, and SJII.

Dr Seow’s work bridges artistic practice, curriculum innovation, and community outreach, including his involvement with TENG Gives Back. He aligns pedagogy and examiner work across both Victoria College of Music and St Cecilia School of Music, reflecting his commitment to versatile, holistic music education.
